Status of Immigrant Visa Case

Your case may be refused under Section 221(g) and reconsidered later if we determine that your visa application lacks required documentation or information or if your application requires additional administrative processing.

  • If your application requires additional administrative processing, then please wait until the Embassy/Consulate contacts you with further instructions.
  • If you are required to provide additional documents, submit them to one of our 11 document drop-off locations. Do not send documents to the Embassy/Consulate by mail.
  • If you are requested to personally return to the Embassy/Consulate with additional documents or information, schedule a Category 2 appointment.
  • If you would like to inquire about a case that has been pending over 365 days, send an email with details of the case (name of applicant and case number) to support-india@ustraveldocs.com.
