Mumbai – U.S. Consulate General Mumbai will inaugurate a photography exhibit entitled “Women Inspiring Change,” on Tuesday, April 15 at 5:00 PM at the NCPA Primal Art Gallery. This exhibit marks the Consulate’s fourth annual online photo contest on women’s empowerment. At the opening, the top 15 photo submissions will go on display and awards will be presented to the top photographers. The exhibit runs through April 19.
The photo contest commemorated International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, which is celebrated in the United States every March. The contest was open to Indian nationals residing in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Goa. Over 200 entries were submitted. Indian photographers Rahul Gajjar and Mukesh Parpiani and a panel of American officers from U.S. Consulate General Mumbai judged the entries and selected the top 15.
The theme of the photography contest, “Women Inspiring Change,”underscores the important roles women play in society. It celebrates individual acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in their families and communities, and who inspire a future generation of girls.
Categories for the winning entries include: Best Overall, Best Composition, Best Story, Most Thematic, and Best TwitPic.
