U.S. Ambassador Richard Verma visits Meghalaya for the first time

U.S. Ambassador Richard Verma visited Shillong as part of a wide-ranging visit to India’s Northeast states. During his maiden visit to Meghalaya, Ambassador Verma drew attention to several key aspects of the strong U.S.-India partnership.

Ambassador Verma met with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. They discussed Meghalaya’s culture, economy, trade, and investment opportunities and explored the ease of doing business.

At the conclusion of his trip Ambassador Verma said, “I had a fruitful meeting with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. I had a delightful visit to Shillong, and enjoyed learning more about the people, culture, economy, and social issues of this beautiful state.”
