- August 2, 2016: #USIndiaDosti in action, partnering together to improve global health
Ambassador Richard R. Verma visited the Sai Hospital in Dharavi to learn about the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)’s support to test and diagnose HIV in patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB), and to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to fight TB and HIV in India. The Ambassador also joined Ratan Tata to launch the India Health Fund, a global partnership to end TB in India and around the world. During his time in Mumbai, Ambassador met with philanthropists and advocacy groups to learn more about the work they are doing in the region.

- November 23, 2015: Address at Megacity Security conference, visit to Western Naval Command
Formidable issues, fantastic people. Ambassador Verma packed serious substance into his short visit to Mumbai. Security was the overarching theme of his visit, which included a keynote address at the Megacity Security conference and an exciting visit to officers and crew at the Western Naval Command. In between, the Ambassador paid his respects at the 26/11 memorial at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

Ambassador Richard Verma together with legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Sir Ratan Tata Trusts launched the “Mumbai Dialogue: Towards A TB-Free India.” “We need a multi-sectoral approach in which partners, public and private, collaborate to achieve this ambitious yet attainable goal,” Ambassador Richard Verma at the launch. Ambassador Richard Verma had a good meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and delivered an evening speech at an Asia Society event. This is his first trip to Mumbai as the newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to India.
