The American Library in Chennai organized four half-day workshops entitled “Learning to Teach: Developing Strategies in the English Classroom” on August 13-14 & 17-18, 2015. 24 Chennai based high school English teachers attended the workshops, conducted by Dr. Padma Ravindran, ELT Consultant and Master Trainer for U.S. Department of State sponsored English Access Microscholarship Program for high school students in Puducherry. The workshop focused on developing speaking skills, learning to read, teaching grammar / vocabulary and sourcing resources for lesson planning. Teachers were introduced to task based activities, techniques and strategies that can be used in teaching LSRW skills in their classrooms. PAO Pollock encouraged the participants to take advantage of American Library resources and gave certificates to all the participants. Participants also received reading material on grammar, dictionary activities, Discover America and library leaflets.
