Chennai: Phillip A. Min began his tenure as Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General Chennai on September 18. Over his 27-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service, Consul General Min has served in South America, Europe, East Asia, and South Asia including posts in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Warsaw, Poland; Seoul, Korea; Tokyo, Japan; Bogota, Colombia; and Karachi, Pakistan. In Washington, Consul General Min has worked in Consular Affairs and in the Office of Japanese Affairs.

Consul General Min earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and did graduate work in East Asian Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. He received a Master of Science degree in National Security Policy from the National War College in Washington D.C. He is a three-time recipient of the State Department’s Superior Honor Award.
Consul General Min was born in the Washington D.C. area and considers his home base in the U.S. to be split between New Jersey and Northern Virginia. He is married to Eun Young Lee, a classical pianist.
