The Department of State is pleased to announce that Mission India will launch a new option for adults to pay for their passport renewal fees. Beginning April 24, 2022, adult passport applicants wishing to pay for their mail-in DS-82 renewal application online may visit the Mission India website to determine eligibility to use this option. If eligible, applicants may then choose to submit payment via U.S. or international credit or debit card, electronic funds transfer from a U.S.-based bank account, Amazon Pay, or Pay Pal. Adults can continue to elect to submit a bank draft for the passport fees with their mail-in passport renewal application if they would prefer. While the passport fees can be paid online, applicants must still submit a paper application to the Embassy or Consulate via mail or in-person.
Minors and citizens 16-years-of-age and older applying for their first adult passport must continue to appear in person at the Embassy or Consulates. Passport fees for minor passports and first-time adult passports can be paid by bank draft, credit card, or cash U.S. Dollars or Indian Rupees and are not eligible to pay passport fees online at this time.
