अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति केल्विन कूलिज ने वर्ष 1925 में कहा था कि “अमेरिकी लोगों का मुख्य कारोबार व्यापार है” और यह 21वीं सदी में भी सत्य प्रतीत होता है। आज अमेरिकी उद्यमी लघु, मध्यम और बड़ी कंपनियों के माध्यम से प्रभावशाली ढंग से विश्वभर में भागीदारों के साथ व्यापार कर रहे हैं। संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और भारत दोनों ही जीवंत लोकतंत्र हैं और दोनों के बीच मजबूत वाणिज्यिक साझेदारी है। भारत अब विश्व की सबसे तेजी से विकसित होती हुई बड़ी अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में से एक है जिसके पास युवा जनसंख्या है, बड़ा और विकसित होता मध्यम वर्ग है और यहां विशाल बुनियादी ढांचे की जरूरत है।
American companies have tremendous business opportunities to develop India’s ambitious infrastructure and become partners in sustainable overall development schemes. Through the Embassy, we have the pleasure of helping American companies find opportunities to do business in India. The US is always open for business and we are always welcome to show interest and investment in Indian companies by the Indian companies, thereby creating opportunities for employment and prosperity for both countries.
The development of our two-way business will benefit both the countries. Opportunities for talented people are created by exchange of products and ideas, which result in new applications and improve the quality of our lives. We have seen this in the areas of innovation, information and communication technology, pharmaceuticals (medical), medical equipment, renewable energy, agriculture and infrastructure. Many of these developments have resulted from joint ventures and co-operation from business to business and from person to person level.
Like Secretary Kerry has said that we are working closely with India to promote “shared prosperity”. He said, “friendship between the world’s oldest and largest democracies is very important and America has invested heavily in our strategic relationships.”
