The iHub (American Center library) is open to public for reference, research or just exploring the collection. However, membership allows patrons a wider selection of privileges. To be an iHub member one must be a resident of India and be 16 years of age or above. The iHub in New Delhi offers local and postal membership to individuals and institutions in North India (includes states of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttaranchal). Members are entitled to borrow six books for four weeks, two back issues of periodicals and two DVDs for four weeks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the iHub library is open on two days in the week viz. Tuesday and Friday. Individual Membership:
Open to anyone 16 years of age or older. Applicant must present appropriate photo identification (e.g. driving license, passport, identity card) with proof of current residence.
Family Membership:
Open to Indian families where any family member can take the membership and the same can be used by all the family members (Max. four members). The primary member should be 16 years or older.
Distance/Postal Membership/ Mail Loan Service:
Open to residents of North India except Delhi. Books are sent by registered post and the borrowers should return them by registered post at their own expense. Subject bibliographies of titles available in the Library are provided on request.
Borrowing and Renewing:
Members can check out items at the Circulation Desk or through our long distance borrower facility. Loan renewals can be requested in person, by phone or by email or by web. In addition, members can request inter library loans from American Libraries in Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Individuals can check out up to six books, two DVDs, and two back issues of journals, for four weeks.
Family members can borrow ten books, along with back issues of four journals and four DVDs, for four weeks.
Library Membership Processing Fee
- Individual: Rs. 400/- for one year
Rs. 700/- for two years - Family membership: Rs. 500/- for one year
Rs. 1,000/- for two years
Fee can be paid in cash or by demand draft drawn in favor of the American Embassy, New Delhi or by credit/debit card at the American Library New Delhi. We do not accept checks.
Institutional Membership Fee as:

Borrowing and book reservation privileges
**Institutional members will be issued five borrower’s cards and up-to 20 books, 10 DVDs and 10 back issues of journals can be checked out on these cards.
**Institutional members may reserve books for their users.

**Customized bibliographies of books available in the American Center libraries on various subjects.
**You may access online catalog. This user friendly, highly interactive library system provides real time access to information on availability of library materials throughout the four American Libraries in India. Reference and Information Services
**Free Access with membership card to the Reading Room and Reference collection which includes over 32,000 full text journals covering a wide range of disciplines including Arts, Business, Economics, International Relations, Literature, Management and Political Science at the American Library. Our reference librarians will also answer reference questions over the telephone and via Email.
**Newspapers and periodicals covering current affairs and articles on various topics of special interest.

Membership Responsibilities
The Membership card is non-transferable. A member is responsible for all material borrowed on his/her card. Loss of membership card or change of address should be reported immediately to avoid any misuse. A duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs. 25/-. The Library reserves the right to restrict admission and cancel the enrolment of anyone not complying with regulations.
Fine: Re. 1 per day, per book/periodical; Rs. 5 per day, per DVD after the due date. Repeated late return of books may result in loss of borrowing privileges.
Lost/Damaged Books: Lost or damaged books must be paid for at cost of replacement or as determined by the library.
