The All-India Museum Summit 2019 will take place from July 22-24 at the India International Center in New Delhi. Sponsored through a U.S. Embassy grant, the Summit will bring together over 150 leading museum professionals from across thirteen states of India and several top American museums. The grant is being implemented by leading American non-profit, the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS).
The Summit will provide a platform for museum curators, directors, administrators, conservationists, as well as supporters and educators to share best practices in museum modernization and reimagining museums for the 21st century. This will include museum management, installing exhibitions that engage the public, accessing new audiences, use of technology, and preventive care and conservation of precious museum artifacts.
The Summit hopes to be the beginning of a more robust nationwide dialogue among museum professionals within India and with counterparts from the United States to share expertise and experiences to use museum resources for research, education and enjoyment.
